A Win for Wally at the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta

Monaco-based Wally yachts have long been the most stylish craft at sea.

Now they’re also among the fastest. The stunning Wally Wally 45m Saudade just crushed the competition at the 2016 Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta in Costa Smeralda, taking home the Silver Jubilee Cup. The Saudade isn’t a new build, which makes the victory all the more laudable and shows what skilled sailing can achieve. She was launched in 2008 with interior and exterior styling by Eidsgaard Design giving her the look and feel of an upscale Manhattan loft. With a composite hull and a beam of 8.57m, she has a total of 836.0 sq.m. of sail made by North Sails for catching even the tiniest breeze.

When not racing she’s a cruiser par excellence as well. Saudade  can accommodate up to 6 guests in 4 suites comprising 1 owner’s cabin, 1 VIP cabin, 1 double cabin, 1 twin cabin and 3 pullman cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 6 crew onboard when you’d rathe be served cocktails than racing down the wind. Wally now runs its own class at the Loro Piana event and this year 12 boats took part, resulting in a head-to-head battle between Open Season and Magic Carpet 3 that went to the wire over two final windward leeward races. When we say it was quite a sight that’s something of an understatement. See you next year in Sardinia…
